7 Ideas For Leftover Ramen Packets

7 Ideas For Leftover Ramen Packets

If you have leftover ramen packets lying around, don’t throw them out! They can be used to season other recipes. Here are some ideas for you.

1. Make a dip!

Add a packet to a tub of sour cream or Greek yogurt. Instant tasty chip dip.

2. Spice up your rice!

Ramen packets are like bullion cubes. Add a packet to the water before boiling rice to add more oomph to your rice.

3. Make a broth!

Add a packet or two to boiling water and thicken with a little cornstarch to make a great broth.

4. French Fry Seasoning!

Skip the salt! Add a seasoning packet to freshly fried french fries for a zestier flavor.

5. Use as salt!

If you have an extra salt shaker, pour the extra packets into the salt shaker for a kickin’ salt substitute.

6. Season chicken for a kick!

Add a packet to your fried chicken to really boost the flavor.

7. Try this recipe!

Egg Drop Soup With Noodles

  • 10 cups water
  • 14 oz noodles of your choice
  • 5 leftover ramen seasoning packets
  • 3 eggs
  • salt

1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add a little salt to the water.

2. Boil the noodles until tender. DO NOT DRAIN

3. Keep the water boiling and add the seasoning packets.

4. In a small bowl, beat the three eggs until blended.

5. While swirling the noodles in the pot, slowly pour the eggs into the noodles.

6. Allow to simmer 3 minutes.

Bonus option:

Sometimes I add a can of sweets peas to my soup for a little extra color and flavor. If you choose to do this, add the peas to the water while it is coming to a boil. Allow them to boil for 10-15 before you add the noodles. Continue with the rest of the recipe.

And there you have it! Lots of different uses for those leftover ramen packets. Waste not!

  • Hi there,

such nice ideas, I never thought about that. But I do have to say, I always use them! HaHa. Does it happen a lot to you that you have them as leftover? Would you mind to post your favourite Ramen recipe here? I love it and always looking for the best places, no matter in which town I currently am. Unfortunately they are quite rare here in New Zealand. I reckon it´s time to one myself!

    Thanks for that!

    • Yes it does. Haha. My husband likes to snack on dry, plain ramen (and any kind of dry pasta). So I save all of the extra packets. I always end up with a pile of them, so I had to figure out other uses for them. I will definitely be posting a ramen recipe in the near future. 🙂

  • As a college student, I go through a lot of Ramen. It is just so convenient. All I add is hot water. Anything else is extra and I am ready to chow down. At times though, it can be monotonous, to eat the same meal I had the night before. Your recommendations for using leftover packets are wonderful. I will use them to spice up my cooking. Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a great day!

    • You can also do the recipe above to spice up a pack of ramen. Prepare it as usual on the stove and just add one beaten egg for a single serving of egg drop soup ramen. Hope you enjoy!

  • I love this page. I never knew there was so many things that those packets could be used for I i use to always just throw them away. Now I am going to keep them and use them for some of these recipes. Thank you for this information.

  • I’ would probably never think of using leftover ramen seasoning to anything else other than… ramen 😛 As I think of it… My brother used to buy instant ramen soups and he ate them “dry”. He crumbled the uncooked noodles and seasoned them and ate them as crisps. So I guess seasoning potatoes (fries) would be exactly the same thing. Thanks for the tips!

    • My husband does the same thing, except he doesn’t season them. He just eats them plain and dry. That’s how I end up with so many leftover packets. Thanks for commenting.

  • Wonderful tips. I like Orzo better than rice and these leftover seasonings i great in that pasta. Actually, I am on a salt restricted diet and divide the seasoning in each packet to use half now and half in another dish. One can be so creative those seasoning packets. I hope to return and get some more ideas from comments. Thank you!

  • That’s one fantastic idea! Thanks for this Kayla. Human innovation and creativity played well. Oh and I love the recipe you suggested. I actually have some ramen packets now and I’ll definitely try this out. Very timely read for me… hehehe =) Thanks again!
